Togo’s head coach Nibombe Dale has announced the 25-man team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mauritania and Senegal.
Togo, currently the fourth in the group, will first face Mauritania on March 22, travel to Senegal and take on the lion of Teranga at Abdu Raywade Stadium in Diamiadio on March 25.
These two matches are considered decisive in the Togo campaign, as only the winners of the group that secures automatic qualifications.
Coach Dale chose a well-balanced team featuring a strong defensive core led by Captain Jean Daconum, with Mauuna Amevar and Kennedy Boten.
In the middle, Karim Dermane and Alaixys Romao bring experience, but young talents like Jules Aziamale and Dikeni Salifou are given the opportunity to shine.
In the attack, FC Cincinnati’s Kevin Denkey leads the charges with the support of return Etienne Amenid and Bruno Avoter.
The team also includes local players such as Bassitou Madougou and Morou Youssouf, reflecting Dale’s commitment to developing talent in the country.
Togo is currently aiming to cause upset against Senegal, the second in the group rankings.
The match in Dakar will be a tough test, but Dale believes his team has what it takes to challenge the 2022 African champions.
“We know what’s going forward, but we’re prepared to compete at the highest level,” the Togo coach said. “Senegal is a great team, but we are confident in our team and we will do our best in both matches.”
