Alexander Volkanovski is back to the top…and the newly crowned UFC featherweight champion says this title run is sweeter than it was in the beginning!
Volk, 36, joined Babcock on “TMZ Sports TV Show” (weekday broadcast on FS1). This is within 48 hours of regaining the belt that had been held for over four years with a unanimous decision victory over Diego Lopes. I asked the 145 pound champion if it makes more sense this time.
“Yeah, yes. Surely,” Alex said without hesitation, explaining his way of thinking during his initial preparation for the title… “While you’re going through the process, you’re just training.
However, as his 36th birthday came and went after he was defeated by Ilia Topria at UFC 298 in February 2024, fans began questioning whether AV could regain his championship format.
In fact, Alex admits that he even needs to prove something to himself with the octagon… he did.
Now he’s once more a champion…but he’s not interested in sitting on his back and babysitting the belt.
Volkanovski wants to fight…and he says he will return to the octagon at least once, if not twice in 2025.
About who… we asked Volk the question, asked him about the latest updates on his injuries and more.
