The Gambia and Algeria fired a void in the 2025 energy Chang Qualifier.
Homebase scorpion and Algeria drew goalless on their first leg fixtures performed at Independence Stadium on Saturday.
Both countries created goal-scoring opportunities during the match, but they were wasted, and the match ended goalless.
Coach Araghy Saar, who spoke with a reporter shortly after the final whistle, said his team was not trained well.
“We couldn’t have players together for about three weeks. We created a goal-scoring opportunity, but we failed to score,” Coach Searle said.
“We could have taken advantage of the opportunities we had, but our strikers were standing still positive.
Gaffer Saar pointed out that some of his players were a bit panicking to play home games as they didn’t play on their soil for a long time, expressing their hopes that they would work very well in Algeria.
Algerian head coach Majid Bagela revealed that he knew it would not be an easy game, given the weather and pitch conditions.
“I’m very pleased with my players who have been very trained over the course of the game,” Coach Majid said.
Majid said it would be difficult to win in the Gambia over the past few years.
Coach Majid praised the Gambia for significant improvements in the facilities at the independent stadium, including the dressing room and press conference room.
Manager Majid pointed out that the only thing that needs to be improved is the pitch, adding that everything is fine.
