Algeria, Algeria – Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nuru, chair of the Somali people’s home, arrived in Algiers ahead of the Arab Parliament meeting on Thursday, where leaders are ready to discuss local challenges and the Palestinian crisis.
Nur leads a high-level delegation from Somalia’s federal assembly. He was accepted by his Algerian counterpart Ibrahim Baugali, along with the Algerian Parliament and Somali Ambassador Yusuf Ahmed Hassan at Houari Bhumien Airport.
The summit is expected to open in the coming days and will bring together the heads of legislative bodies from across the Arab world. This year’s agenda will focus on regional security, economic cooperation and ongoing conflicts in Palestine.
Nur is expected to give a keynote address highlighting Somali’s perspective on Arab unity, the importance of parliamentary cooperation, and the state’s support for the Palestinian cause. Somalia has sought stronger diplomatic relations in the region as part of a broader effort to increase international involvement.
During his stay in Algeria, Nur will also hold bilateral meetings with senior officials of the Algerian government and hold private consultations with other parliamentary leaders attending the summit.
The Arab Parliament’s meeting will turn its host nations each year and serve as a platform for the Arab Parliament to coordinate shared policy priorities and regional stability.
