Bayern Munich announced Wednesday that he has been diagnosed with winger Alphonso Davies with ACL torn in his right knee after returning from international duties with Canada, but French defender Dayot Upamecano has been diagnosed with a loose body in his left knee and will be out for several weeks. The club has been confirmed.
Davis undergoes surgery and misses the rest of the current 2024-25 season. Bayern Munich will meet in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals on April 8th (as usual, you can catch additional coverage on the CBS Sports Golazo Network). Upamecano will also miss the Champions League quarterfinals, but it is expected that he will return before the end of the current spell as Davies will be available again next season. This double injury is a major blow to the German giant. Because Vincent Company’s coached team is currently leading the Bundesliga table with a six-point margin from Bayer Leberkusen.
Alphonso Davies began both the semi-final and third place matches of the CONCACAF NATIONS League with the Mexican and US men’s teams, but was forced to leave the pitch after 12 minutes against Mauricio Pockettino’s USMNT due to a knee injury. The Canadian national team captain was replaced by Nico Sigur, who continued playing in place of the Bayern Munich star who was left in Canada’s 2-1 victory.
Early reports suggested Davis’ injuries were not particularly serious. It was also confirmed by Bayern Munich CEO Jan Christian Doriessen. Sadly, further medical checkups players have taken have opposed, with Canadian wingers expected to miss out on at least six months of action.
