The Texas Tech Hockey Club reveals uniforms to celebrate the beloved school tradition
We don’t talk much about the Texas Tech Hockey Club as it’s not a university sponsored sport. However, this week, the club made the news by showing off unique, surprising uniform designs.
This year, the Red Raiders will be honouring the tradition of throwing tortillas in Texas Tech football games, wearing tortilla themed jerseys. The uniforms are so unique that I created the news on nhl.com.

Most people believe that tortillas thrown at Lubbock began in the early 1990s when television commentators said there was nothing else to them except for the Texas Tech University’s home game and tortilla factory. Legend has it that when the same TV crew returned later in the season, students threw tortillas on the field to laugh at the comments.
Tortillas throwing now has become the best and unofficial tradition of technology. And the fact that the hockey club is supporting their activities with their sweaters this year is proof of that.
Texas Institute of Technology Softball ranks in the “Way Too Earty” 2025 power ranking and lands two commits
Some adjustments are needed for Texas tech fans to grasp the fact that the Red Raider softball team could become national power this spring. Of course, that’s largely because of the arrival of Nijaly Canady, the country’s best pitcher who transferred from Stanford.
This week, softball transfer portal season is behind us, and Oklahoman’s Ryan Aber released his pretty power rankings. Texas Tech appears on No. 6 on that list.
Regarding Tech, Aber wrote: “New coach Gerry Glasco quickly built a team that can run in Oklahoma City. It starts with former Stanford ace Nyjary Canady.”
The teams ranked ahead of Tech in Aber’s rankings are Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University and UCLA. So, technology should become a 12 favorites this spring.
Other Texas Tech Softball News also featured two great oral commitments this week. Avery Howerton, pitcher and outfielder for the class of 2026, and Sidna Meiser, the first baseman and outfielder in the same class, have promised to join the Red Raiders. Both are considered the top 100 players across the country.

This week, following his outstanding performance against Texas Tech’s starting quarterback UNT, Behren Morton was added to the Davey O’Brien Awards over the season.
After threw for 273 yards and four touchdowns in the first half of last week’s average game against Green, Morton was recognized by the Davy O’Brien Foundation’s “Great 8” committee. He was one of 16 players to be honored by the committee in the third week.
