Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expects big summer spending to help the club get the “next step” and wait for silverware.
Arteta spoke the day after the gunners announced their successor to Edu’s successor, along with Andrea Berta, who previously had Atletico Madrid’s Andrea Berta, who had taken the reins.
Arsenal, whose final trophy was 2020 FA Cup, has been criticised for not signing strikers in the windows recently, and their failure to act was exposed by both Kai Helbertz and Gabriel Jesus on the sidelines later this season.
Without the recognized striker, the North London outfit is 12 points behind Liverpool in the Premier League. They left them on the course and finished runner-up in their third consecutive season.
Prior to his side’s match against Fulham at the Emirates on Tuesday, Arteta said: “It’s going to be a big thing (summer).
“When you go again, we want to improve the depth of our team and the quality and skills we need to get to the next step.
“Every summer is big, so that’s an opportunity, especially because of the number of players we have on our team right now.

“But it’s a big summer for a lot of things. First of all, it’s obviously a way to improve and evolve our team because we have to maintain the good foundation we have.”
Arsenal’s title ambitions are everything to this semester, but they continue to live out in the Champions League in a delicious, two-legged quarter-final clash with Real Madrid.
Arteta will be able to choose Bucayosaka for the opening game at the Emirates next week, and England International will also be joining the Spanish team for a cottage visit.
Saka, 23, has not been present for more than three months since surgery with a hamstring cleft in the Gunners’ 5-1 victory at Crystal Palace on December 21.
Arteta isn’t nervous about Saka’s return
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says Bukayo Saka is “ready” after three months of injury. He gives an update on Riccardo Carafioli and Julien Timber, and talks about Andrea Berta joining the gunner as sports director.
However, Arteta is not worried about bringing Saka back into the spotlight with one closed door and six consecutive training sessions under the belt of the Starwinger.
“It doesn’t mean that sometimes these things happen, and that happens to the best players and that has to happen again,” Arteta said.
“He needs to be fully aware that clearly everything is increasing: the level, the speed, the time it takes to run.
“You want to make things slower? Forget that, you’re not efficient. So perhaps you have to be faster and sharper at maximum speed, and you need to train and prepare for it.
“Do I get nervous? No, because he’s already done it all over again. He needs to be exposed in the game, but there’s all the boxes he has to check.
“The team that has produced Bukayo numbers in the last three seasons doesn’t have a single player on that team. He’s really good in the process and we have a lot of security that he can do very well right now.”

It will be Andrea Berta, who has been appointed as the Gunners’ new sports director to be responsible for Arsenal’s plans with Arteta.
The 53-year-old had the chance to work for the North London Club and work for the Premier League.
“We are delighted to be able to attend Arsenal, which is a very exciting time for the club,” Berta said.
“I have been very interested in how Arsenal has evolved in recent years. I admired the efforts they have made to reestablish the club as a major force in European football, with passionate followers all over the world.
“The club has great values and a rich history, and I look forward to doing my part in shaping a successful future with a great team.
“I can’t wait to start a new role. I’m really looking forward to experiencing my first game at Emirates Stadium with my supporters.”
Arsenal held a thorough process and interviewed many candidates, but Berta was an outstanding choice.
