Wrexham, Wales – Ryan Reynolds said Wrexham is targeting the Premier League after the Hollywood-owned club secured a historic third promotion to win position in the EFL Championship.
Saturday’s 3-0 victory at promotional rival Charlton Athletic led the Charlton Athletic to second in League 1 with Stoke Caelas, ensuring Phil Parkinson’s team will join runway leader Birmingham City in the second tier of the following season.
However, after Wrexham became the first team to achieve three consecutive promotions in the history of British football dating back to 1888, co-owner Reynolds said the club was creating a Premier League course.

“Our goal is to get to the Premier League,” Reynolds said. “It just seemed like an impossible dream [when buying the club in February 2021]but as a storyteller, you will look as much as you can in a macro view of history.
“I wouldn’t be here, you could go back all the way from Gresford [coal mine] disaster [club legend] This was a major point of the club’s aspirations, and the goal was to reach that feeling. That’s emotion. ”
Reynolds and co-owner Rob McElhenney, who bought the club for $2.5 million in 2021 and became famous around the world, was part of a full house of nearly 13,000 fans packed into the club’s historic stadium to celebrate.
McElhenney said the club will put on hold plans for next season, but only for a few hours.
“That’s for tomorrow,” McElhenney said when asked about the championship. “Today is just to enjoy the moment. You can leave it until 12:01!
“Ryan and I do the easiest job in the world. We just sit down and see this incredible football team and incredible staff.”

Charlton joined the game as one of two teams alongside the Wycombe Wanderers.
However, with Wycombe losing 1-0 to Leyton Orient earlier in the day, Wrexham knew that a victory in the final home game of the season would close out the final automatic promotional berth.
Reynolds previously posed for a selfie with fans outside and served drinks behind a marquee set up outside a nearby turf pub.
Fans erupted in cheers after being shown on a big screen after the final whis of Wycomb’s loss.
Two first-half 3-minute goals from Ollie Rathbone and Sam Smith set Wrexham on the way to victory. Smith, who has a £2 million record signing ($2.7 million), then secured a very important victory with a third in 81 minutes.
The final whi caused mayhem as thousands of fans carried the pitch saying “turn your back on your back” and erected the player with a grin on his shoulder amid a cloud of red smoke.
After already achieving three promotions in the EFL with Colchester, Bradford and Bolton, Fexham manager Parkinson, hired in 2021, is overseeing the team’s rapid rise from the national league to the championship.
However, Parkinson said Wrexham is ready to meet the challenge for next season, but he warns that the championship will be as tough as any league in the world.
“We’re going to take the championship completely, like we’ve done in recent years,” Parkinson said. “We will be one of the most competitive leagues in football in the world, and that will be a huge challenge.
“We sit down, recruit the right players, try to get the most powerful team possible, and enjoy the ride.
“But you can’t take this achievement from us, and it’s amazing how we did it.
“It’s hard to get past the football line, so it’s a testament to everyone to keep that standard in such a well-known game.
“I want to experience that moment, and although this division has gotten stronger this year, the group mentality was very strong as all of our players stepped up and adapted so well.
“We focused on tonight. When the third goal came in, it was the perfect moment.”
