Villa had the opportunity to draw out levels through Marco Asensio and play against his parent club and Consa, but ultimately fell short before quitting the high-headed competition.
“I’m extremely proud of everything we did,” Emery told Amazon Prime.
“To reach this level is the best step to getting to where you want to go with Aston Villa.

“I want a club with the same challenges I have – adding quality players if necessary – I’m proud of these players, so I’m sure I’ll get a goal until my final match is faced.”
McGinn: We’ve come a long way
Will Villa qualify for Champions League football?
Aston Villa is currently in seventh place at the Premier League table, with the set to secure Champions League football for the top five.
The Villa captain began his second half of the revival after running deep into the PSG half and firing into the upper corner. He insists that despite the end of the competition, the team can be proud of their efforts and the journey they have gone on.
McGinn signed Villa from Hibernian in 2018, playing a major role in the rise from the second tier of British football to competition with European elites.
“It’s obviously disappointing, but I’m proud of my teammates and I’m proud of my club,” he told Amazon Prime. “We have come a long way, we were very close tonight, and we’ve been a little shorter.

“We had the chance to lift the game to an extra time, but we need to be proud of how we can go back to one of the best teams in the world and compete to the end.
“We want more. We want to go back here next season, so we’ll do our best to do that.”
Morrison can’t believe what he’s seeing as Aston Villa scores two goals in three minutes to make it 5-4 against PSG
When asked about what Emery said at halftime, as his side was still staring at a 5-2 deficit barrel in total, McGinn added:
“We never gave up. It was a mess, but we gave absolutely everything and I think all Aston Villa supporters will leave with great pride.”
Consa: We’re back!
Consa reflected the manager and captain’s claims, referring to the possibility that Marcus Rashford’s cross missed when he flashed across the goal’s face, but the defender was unable to make the necessary connections from the point blank range.
Morrison is critical of Aston Villa’s tactics, and the Unai Emery aspect was found in PSG 5-1 in the collective
“I’m proud of the boys,” Consa said. “The two goals of the start killed us, but we showed great belief and character to get back to it.
“At halftime, we felt we had nothing to lose. We wanted to go there and prove the points. We had a chance. I think we got the most difficult one. I don’t think we could have done it anymore. We missed the ball. [for the headed chance]that happens.
“Donnarumma made some great saves and we showed we can compete at the highest level tonight.
“The Villa will have to use PSG’s victory from now on.”
Sky Sports ‘Jamie Carragher on CBS:
“As a fan, it’s one of those nights that you’re disappointed, but you love it too.
“You were going to a villa park where you don’t expect much, but that’s a night they’ve remembered for a long time.
“Hopefully, from a villa perspective, they will again be in the Champions League next season, and I think they will be through the league position.
“But that’s the night they couldn’t dream about four or five years ago.
“Yes, they’ll be disappointed, but they can use that performance and will really be a hot topic around Aston Villa in the future.
“If they lose 2-0 or 3-0, it will affect your league form or the FA Cup semi-finals they are approaching.
“They can use the fact that they beat the best team in Europe in Captain John McGinn’s eyes, and even more.
“They have to move it forward now.”

PSG boss Luis Enrique acknowledged his active performance from the villa, claiming that he had never seen the team “dominate” his side like that before traveling to the West Midlands.
“I don’t think this team is dominated by this kind of team, but they had to take risks because they were out of the competition.
“They attacked with real strength and attacked in front of great crowds, and this experience will improve.
“I wasn’t happy at the end of the first half. We were playing at a level that wasn’t worthy of the Champions League. Then we really struggled in the second half and the Villa could be equal.”
