The welterweight division is waiting for the dominant world champion to emerge, and Brian Norman wants to be a man to fill that void.
Undefeated champions Jaron “Boots” Ennis and Eimantas Stanionis will fight for the IBF and WBA titles next month. Mario Barrios holds the WBC belt and Norman puts the WBO Championship on the line when he fights Derrieck Cuevas in Las Vegas.
Undefeated in the 26th Profight, Norman boxes the Cubass into the undercard of the Michaela Meyer vs. Sandy Ryan rematch and will be performing live on Sky Sports Action starting midnight on Sunday mornings.
“You’ll be entertained. Don’t go to the toilet, the fridge, don’t check your mailbox, you’ll see something great, so you’d better tune it to the TV,” Norman told Sky Sports.
“I think he’s the perfect opponent. He’s getting to bring it with him, so our style clashes incredibly. It’s head-to-head fight and someone else falls asleep. And I’m not too tired.”

Norman is away from an impressive knockout victory over Giovani Santilan. He is sure he should be considered the best in the division.
In his victory over Santilan, he said:
“I believe in the work I put in. I believe in the time I put in and I feel like I’m going to run through everyone.”
Historically, the welterweight division has produced some of the best fighters in the entire sport. In recent years, welterweight champions Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao and Terrence Crawford have been considered the best boxers in the pound in the world.

Mayweather and Pacquiao have of course retired for a long time, and last year the amazing Terrence Crawford moved to Super Welter.
Norman wants to be the next great welterweight champion.
“We take it every day, but I know for myself that I will become a game legend. I will be one of those Hall of Fames,” he said. “As the year progresses, you see that your resumes will accumulate.
“The old generation just left. The last generation is Terence Crawford and Errol Spence. So it’s just new now and not big yet. [Like] Marvin Hagler I have to come and change the whole game.
“I feel like £147 is starting to warm up to the standards everyone is looking for.”
After an epic first fight seen by a record-breaking audience, a rematch between Michaela Mayer and Sandy Ryan was inevitable
Inspired by my father’s ring return
His father, Brian Norman Sr., is his trainer. Unusually last month, Norman Sr. played his first professional boxing match in 14 years.
This is an example of an influence on the WBO world Titleists.
“There were a lot of things going in there because I didn’t want to see him get hurt, but when I started training, I saw a place where I got my attitude. “So I was confident in the world that went into that fight.
“If he can come back in 14 years and fight active fighters, if he beat him, I can take over the world.
