St. Louis Blues forward Dylan Holloway is expected to be able to play at the start of the 2025-26 season after undergoing surgery for a private injury. The news about veteran defensive man Tory Krug was less positive.
General Manager Doug Armstrong held a season-ending press conference on Tuesday, addressing a variety of subjects, including the status of two players. The Blues lost the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs to the Winnipeg Jets in seven games.

Holloway, 23, played on April 3 in a 5-4 overtime victory over the Penguins. He was hit by Pittsburgh’s Rutger McGroarty and came out of the game early.
All the team said so far about the injury was that he was on his weekly timeline. Holloway missed all seven playoff games and the final five of the regular season.
Holloway was the 14th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft by the Oilers. He spent two seasons at Edmonton and signed a two-year, $4.58 million contract with Bruce as a restricted free agent prior to the 2024-25 season.
In 77 games against the Blues, he finished second in the team with goals of 26, adding 37 assists. He was third in points with 63.
The 34-year-old veteran Krug played four seasons with the Blues after nine for the Boston Bruins. He missed the entire 2024-25 season after undergoing surgery last September and dealt with what he called a change in the prilaricintick in his left ankle.
“I don’t think there’s much uncertainty about Tory. I spoke to him. He was on the link the other day,” Armstrong said. “It’s almost normal for him to live with his ankles every day, so I don’t expect him to play again. He wants me to be wrong, I’m wrong, I want him to be pushing.
Krug has 483 points (89 goals, 394 assists) in 778 regular season career games. Undrafted he was selected for the NHL All-Rookie team in 2014.
He added 57 points in 82 playoff games.
Bruce signed him on October 9, 2020 as a free agent.
