Manchester United believes that manager Reuben Amorim will recreate his success at Sports CP at Old Trafford, according to club captain Bruno Fernandez.
Amorim left the sport in November and joined United as he led the Portuguese outfit to two league titles in four and a half years. United have only won 11 of his 26 games under him.
“I knew the sport was playing. The fans were excited and the players were very pleased with him. [Amorim] So Fernandez spoke to CBS Sports about Amorim. [at Sporting] During that time, there was a sense of unity between the players and staff.
“The technical staff, including me and my teammates and manager, want to replicate it. To replicate it, we obviously need a trophy as well.”

United, who finished eighth last season in the Premier League, is 14th in the table after a 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Sunday. They will host Real Sociedad on Thursday’s 16 return leg of the European Legion after a 1-1 result in the opening leg.

United co-owner Ir Jim Ratcliffe recently supported Amorim and said the 40-year-old will remain with the club “for a long time.”
United’s top scorer, Fernandez takes many responsibility as captain and understands what Amorim, who is also a Portuguese, represents in his country.
Amorim praised Fernandez after United said they “need more Brunos” after the midfielder scored a free kick in the first half and nearly got a late winner against Arsenal.
However, Fernandez has no particular relationship with his coach.
“We’re not very close,” Fernandez said with a laugh. “We don’t talk much to be honest. He’s a very quiet manager… Obviously, most of the things he wants to give to the team over and over, but many others don’t even come from him, and from his staff.
“Obviously, we have a good relationship, but I’m not saying that it’s different from other players. I knew he was doing it in sports, but not someone I personally knew.”
