Top seed Jessica Pegra won the Charleston open title by beating fellow American Sofia Kenin 6-3 7-5.
In his first national final in the tournament since 1990, Pegra showed a great promise as he defeated his opponent in straight sets to win the second single title of the season and the eighth title of his career.
Pegra looked strong from the start, breaking his opponent in the opening game, but Kenin resisted and managed to save two breakpoints before leveling 2-2.
Kenin then forced momentum, saving a breakpoint in his next service game, taking the lead for the first time in the match.
However, Kenin dropped his service twice more and was unable to follow through.

Pegula, who lost Aryna Sabalenka’s Miami Open Final a week ago, struggled with her serve in the second set, allowing Kenin to move on.
Kenin played her strength with a great backhand shot, and was on the verge of forcing the decider when serving 5-2, but Pegra saved three set points to fashion a great comeback before winning six consecutive games to seal off victory and claiming the trophy.
Meanwhile, at Copasanitas in Bogota, Camila Osorio won his second consecutive tournament title after beating qualifier Catalgina Kawa 6-3, 6-3 in the final.

Jenson Brooksby claimed his Maiden ATP Tour title at the Phase Salophim & Co US Clay Court Championship in Houston as he defeated America’s Francis Tierfor 6-4 6-2 in the Finals.
Brooksby saved match points in three matches along the way to the title – once in the first round of qualifying, against Alejandro Tabilo in the second round of the main draw, and once in the semi-finals against Tommy Paul, but he saw a great touch when he saw the tier four.
