Chelsea’s hunt for European glory was stopped by Barcelona in back-to-back seasons, but this year the Blues have additional incentives.
A quadruple layer is on the card, and Chelsea have already won the Women’s League Cup, but they have cleared eight points in the top women’s Super League and the women’s FA Cup semi-finals.
“The four times mentality is back,” former Chelsea midfielder Karen Carney told TNT Sports.
“They haven’t stopped, they’re trains and when they’re on it, you can’t stop them. They’re going to be thinking, ‘We want that square, and we won’t stop.’ ”
Bompastor says he doesn’t allow him to think about hauling the four trophy, but Chelsea’s ambitions are clear – and the way they dispatched the city on Thursday suggests they are taking on the challenge.
“We had that all the beliefs came to this game and we could turn it around,” Bright told BBC Sports.
“We were totally confident [knew we] I had to be ruthless. It was a true Chelsea performance. The fans were incredible.
“It’s all about mentality and belief, and everyone is stepping up and delivering.”
Chelsea are far better in all divisions, with Sandy Baltimore, Natalie Bjorn and Meila La Mirez on the scoresheet with an explosive first half display.
They pushed the city hard and gained total lead clinically, but Bjorn and Erin Cuthbert were able to add more to their tally by hitting woodworking.
“This is Chelsea, we know. This is Chelsea, which just does it. It was about energy, hunger, desire,” said former blues striker Enni Arco.
“The squares are important, but the Champions League is something that escaped them.
“Even if they don’t do squares, if they win the Champions League, it would be something the players have been trying to do for years.
“The owner brought the bonpaster because she did it.”
