The NCAA tournament is officially underway, but the coaching carousel has already been in high gear for weeks.
Recent Recent Headlines:
We hit that part of the cycle where many just pause in the air as the NCAA Tournament determines the rhythm of many different timelines at schools awaiting employment and firing. One exception came to Indiana as he announced the employment of West Virginia’s Daryan DeVies on Tuesday evening. That’s crazy. Indiana and West Virginia both unexpectedly missed the NCAA tournament, allowing one school to poach other coaches.
DeBrees, who replaces Bloomington’s Mike Woodson, was approached by Indiana on Monday after WVU, who missed the NCAA tournament, sources told CBS Sports, and the two were able to sign a contract late Tuesday afternoon for around $5 million a year. Devries met in person with IU officials on Monday night. The Devries acquisition was said to be $6 million north to leave West Virginia, sources said.
Wild turn of the event. And now WVU has to get a fourth coach over the years.
Cycle’s most recent shooting came on Monday when Iona cut ties with Tobin Anderson just two seasons later. It landed in college basketball as a shock. Anderson went 33-34, but took Iona to the MAAC title game. His successor will be the Pelicans Dangeriot in New Orleans, sources are planning an announcement on Thursday (if potentially not early).

We had 26 job flips as of Wednesday morning, and that number increases as the week goes on. This cycle almost certainly allows you to hit at least 40 coaching moves. Over 50 is not surprising. That said, I don’t think 2025 will reach the level of absurdity that 2024 did when there was a record 68 job swaps. Please be sure to bookmark this page. Daily updates are moving forward.
