The masked gang tried to abduct the daughter and young grandson of the Paris cryptocurrency chief, but after a violent struggle they drove empty-handed.
The failed bid for the lunar was videotaped by onlookers in Paris’s 11th district east of the French capital.
Police sources said the woman was the daughter of a boss of a cryptocurrency company. She and her husband fought three attackers until passersby rushed to their aid and the man escaped in the van.
The Paris Police Brigade, which tackles armed robbery, is expected to investigate the latest attacks of a series of aiding forces targeting French cryptocurrency or its parents.
Local media said the attack unfolded around 8:20 local time on Tuesday. This involves three men jumping out of a white van and trying to lure their mother and child.
The pair is said to be relatives of the co-founder of French Bitcoin exchange platform Paymium, AFP News Agency said.
The husband of a woman who was with his family at the time tried to protect them and was beaten repeatedly on his head. The couple cried out for help as the masked man tried to pull them apart.
At one point she was seen grabbing a firearm from the attacker and throwing it into the street. The weapon was later described as a replica airgun.
The streets were relatively busy at the time, with groups of children on their way to their local elementary school.
Initially, the passersby seemed too afraid to intervene, but when the locals began to respond, the three attackers eventually gave up and jumped into the van. A man threw a fire extinguisher into the van.
The family was treated for minor injuries at the hospital.
The failed invitation at Rue Pache comes more than a week after French police rescued the father of a cryptocurrency billionaire who had been lured in another part of the capital while walking their dogs and being detained for ransom.
In signs of cruelty in the gangster involved, the victim was released three days later after the temptation cut off one of the fingers.
Several people have been arrested.
Last January, David Balland, co-founder of Cryptocurrency Wallet Firm Ledger, was accused of his wife at his home in central France.
According to French media, one finger was missing when the victim was rescued from a Paraisau home south of Paris.
