Colorado legend Chad Brown is not a fan of his alma mater, but has made the quick decision to retire the numbers on the jerseys of Chedur Sanders and Travis Hunter… telling TMZ Sports what appears to be “strange.”
The school revealed earlier this month that it was cleaning up 2 and 12 forever in honor of recent efforts with Buffalo’s grid irons…But Brown said on Friday he didn’t love the move.
The former Buffs linebacker, who left school in 1993, said both guys certainly deserve the honor… but so are the others who waited much longer.
“If it was a program that we’ve always given these things, I think myself and many other former alumni would see this through a very different lens,” he said.
“But considering how incredibly conservative we were, and now we’re going to do it to the two guys on campus, their graduation class hasn’t left campus yet — that feels a little weird.”
Brown isn’t alone in his emotions… he says he’s been told by a dozen former Buffaloes and “feels like me.”

In fact, the rebound has grown very loudly… Thursday’s Deion Sanders actually dealt with it and tore it.
Nevertheless, Brown told us that his old teammate, Deon Figure, had earned honor ahead of his coach Prime son.
“For another No. 2 to get in front of him,” Brown said, “I’m not saying that Chedur is not worthy or worthy of such a conversation, but if you respect No. 2, it’s going to be Deon’s number first.”
Colorado – previously only retired four numbers – will officially honor Hunter and Chedur later on Saturday…just before the school’s spring match.
