A man pointed a gun at him during a Florida sheriff’s deputy shooting and a call for domestic violence was seriously injured.
The Hillsboro County Sheriff’s Office released the footage Sunday, showing one of their deputies as they climbed the stairs at Riverview House, where Manuel Alvarez and his female partner are staying.
Deputies identified as Sean Swinford are wearing his body camera and training guns in front of him while he trains them in front of him.
When he reaches the top of the stairs, Swinford sees 50-year-old Alvarez standing in the doorway of the room, pointing a firearm at him.
All hell falls apart… Swinford opens fire with his weapon of service and sends at least one bullet into Alvarez.
Authorities say the incident began at 3:47am Sunday to call 911 and report the national incident at a Tampa area residence. When deputies arrive at their home, they meet Alvarez’s partner outside after she is allegedly assaulted. Officers say the woman said that Apex Alvarez was armed with a pistol and still armed inside the house.
Alvarez was rushed to the hospital where he underwent surgery and was listed in serious and stable condition.
Officials say the results of an internal investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement were pending and Swinford took administrative leave along with payment. Officers noted that this is the standard operating procedure.
