Tigers assistant GM Sam Mentsin resigns from his job… amid allegations of sexual misconduct

Tigers assistant general manager Sam Mentsin left his job at the Ball Club last Thursday… just as the Tigers were about to fire a front office executive during an investigation that reportedly sent thread photos to female staff.
According to Athletic, they spoke to three women. They claimed they received unsolicited photos of the 34-year-old genitals, dating back as early as 2017. Two of them worked for the MLB team, while the other worked for baseball, but not for the Motor City team.
The photo is said to have been sent via Snapchat. This is automatically deleted after the image is viewed.
In a statement, the team said if they noticed the allegations, “The club completed the investigation immediately. He resigned before the club ended Mr Mentsin.”
“This type of behavior is against our standards and has no place within our organization at all. We have a positive and safe culture for our colleagues and continue to emphasize respect, inclusion and professionalism.”
As to why the allegations were not revealed sooner, one of the victims told the outlet it was unlikely that people would believe the allegations made against longtime baseball executives.

Menzin started in the big leagues as an intern with the New York Mets before joining the Tigers as an intern in baseball operations in 2012. He became director of baseball business and professional scouts in 2019… He was appointed assistant GM in 2021.

Menzin has not publicly commented on the allegations.
