Judge Diddy Trial’s joke about the nickname… yelling to “The Lord of the Rings”

The first day of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal assault and sex trafficking trials began this morning with lighthearted comments by judges… nods to the size of a potential judge pool, referring to Diddy’s various nicknames over the years.
While the proceedings were officially underway, Judge Arun Subramanian said that he compared the length of the list of future ju umpires, both sides questioning the stands with the novel’s famous “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

As you know, there are many challenges on both sides to selecting a ju umpire, but it is expected to take several days.
Diddy himself arrives at Daniel Patrick Moynihan Court in Manhattan, lower Manhattan, where he reads formal suits and glasses… The judge previously granted Diddy’s request to wear civilian clothes to the trial, instead of prison scrubs…

Judge Subramanian also mentioned many of the rap moguls… The accused is also known as “Puffpaddy, Diddy, other names… and love.” (Combs legally changed his middle name to “love” in 2018.) The judge has presumed that Diddy pleaded not guilty to all charges and is innocent.

Didi Trial – Answers to all important questions
Subramanian noted that defense and prosecutors on potential privacy issues in testimony and that it will be addressed through sidebar conversations. He said he expects the trial to last about eight weeks.

Diddy is on trial for three counts – one count of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion. One of the transports engaged in prostitution. And one count of assault conspiracy. In April 2025, he was hit with two more charges. A separate sex trafficking count and another transport engaged in prostitution charges brought the total to five.

The judge also dropped a brief comparison to the case of Githraine Maxwell, the former girlfriend of convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, serving in prison for 20 years in a crime similar to that of Diddy’s indictment. She has been working in a Florida prison for 20 years.
