The New York ju judge awarded $1.688 billion to 40 women who accused Director James Tock of sexual assault, psychological abuse, false imprisonment and coercion.
Money is broken down like this… $280 million in compensatory damages and $1.4 billion in punitive damages.
Toback was sued in December 2022 by dozens of women who allegedly forced them to a meeting they believed was an audition for job interviews… The meeting is said to be sexual.
The director was previously accused by more than 30 women of decades of sexual harassment in October 2017…and the allegations were essentially similar to the charges against Harvey Weinstein.
The lawsuit went to trial this month, but Tock didn’t appear in court. He reportedly tried to dismiss the case last year, but after a judge denied his request, he retreated and was not represented in the New York judge’s trial. His absence led to partial default judgment.
When the allegations first surfaced, Tock denied them… claiming that he had never met a woman or had only had a brief encounter with them. He also told the Los Angeles Times that he could not act in such suspected form, citing diabetes and his heart condition.
Among the Toback accusers… Julianne Moore, Natalie Morales, Ellen Pompeo.
