Lando Norris criticizes the makers of the drive to survive the show about Netflix’s F1, so he says he is “not a fake fan.”
The British driver highlighted how the seventh season of the recently released show portrayed the rivalry between him and Max Verstappen, who fought for the driver’s title last year.
In the second episode, Red Bull’s Verstappen was portrayed as upset when McLaren’s Norris claimed the maiden victory in Miami, but footage used was from the second half of the season.
“They need to show more truth about people,” Norris said. Norris claimed Paul’s position in Australia during the opening race of the 2025 campaign.
“I’m not a fan of fakes. I want the facts. I don’t want to make scripts made or nonsense manufactured.
“They don’t have to create that drama, how we were against each other.
“It lies almost in some way, so I don’t think it’s right. They just mess up the whole thing and don’t bother them when they put it in.
“Maybe it needs to be a season documentary rather than the kind of show they’re trying to do. It drifted far too far.”
Dutch driver Verstappen ultimately won the title and addressed the way he was represented in episodes of the Netflix series.
“It seems I was very sad after Miami,” he said. “I literally had the best time on a Sunday night so I don’t know what I was upset about.”
The production company behind Box to Box Films, Drive To Survive, claimed that the stories they told were not “fake” and that “the story clearly follows the actual events.”
They added:
“When these are pointed out to us, if they’re some footage of the post-Miami GP after Max, like this year, we’ll move to fix these unintended errors.”
A F1 spokesman said:
“We should focus on the positive impact of the series and not criticize it for something very beneficial to the sport as a whole.”
