On Monday, March 31, 2025, Egypt’s State Intelligence Agency (SIS) said millions of Egyptians gathered at solidarity meetings after offering Eid al-Fitr prayers in hundreds of public squares, mosques and Islamic centres across all regions of the Egyptian governor. These gatherings accounted for most of the designated prayer space, totaling 6,240 for all governors.
SIS said the protesters raised thousands of Palestinian and Egyptian flags, as well as Arabic and English banners. They also chanted slogans during these meetings, which lasted several hours from the end of Eid al-Fitr’s prayer.
These demonstrations conveyed several direct political messages. First, full support for Egyptian political leadership is in all its solid positions that reject bloody aggression towards Gaza and unwavering solidarity between the Palestinian people and their rights since the beginning of the invasion.
Second, the complete and immoral rejection by the Egyptians of their plans to drive the Palestinians out of their land.
Third, the complete condemnation of Gaza’s genocide and the call for the international community to take prompt and decisive action on it.
Fourth, it is a complete rejection of all attempts to eliminate the Palestinian cause, and ensures that the matter can only be resolved if the Palestinian people achieve their legal rights.
Fifth, there is demand for an immediate, total, and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, ending the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the ongoing genocide.
SIS concluded that these millions of demonstrators will convey these clear and direct messages, reaffirming the credibility of Egyptian people’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. It also emphasizes the perfect harmony between the Egyptian people and their leadership, robbing them of a strong and resolute position from the beginning of the attack on Gaza. Egypt is a constant presence as a united entity and leadership, until the attacks cease and all legitimate rights of the Palestinian people are restored.
