Masawa – The 37th anniversary of the end of Nadeu Iz and the release of Aphabet, commemorated on March 19th, was marked with great patriotic enthusiasm.
The event, attended by many Afabet residents, featured a parade of students and military, featuring cultural and artistic performances by the “Algen” Cultural Theatre Company of the 31st Division of the Army, adding solid and festive occasions.
Subzone administrator Ahmed Mohammed Noor Rejib highlighted the historical impact of Nadew IZ’s fall 37 years ago.
Rejib also noted that this year’s anniversary is being observed during a uniquely important historic period, urging all citizens to be vigilant and respond to the ongoing national building process.
Beyond the celebrations, Mahmud Sheikh Hamid, administrator of Afabet Town, stressed that the commemoration had deep historical significance for the Eritrea people and encouraged the younger generation to advance this vibrant heritage.
It is noteworthy that the Eritrea People’s Liberation Front (EPLF) launched a rapid attack on the NAKFA front from March 17th to 19th, 1988.
