Eurostar passengers face severe delays on the second day after two people died on French railway tracks and cables were stolen.
High-speed rail operators told passengers to cancel or postpone their trip on Wednesday, with many services being cancelled and delayed on routes serving London, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam.
The two died in separate incidents on the LGV Nord highway line between Lille and Paris on Tuesday, closing most of the day.
Eurostar said the chaos going forward is already ongoing until Wednesday, when services are further delayed after cables were stolen on the same railway line near the reel.
Theft, which French media says is about 600 metres of copper cable, has rerouted the train, leading to extended travel times.
The route to and from London will be subject to last-minute cancellations and severe delays, EuroStar said.
He added that affected passengers may change their travel plans for free or request a full refund.
“We are very sorry about the impact this will have on our customers,” EuroStar said in a statement.
“Our teams work closely with the French authorities and infrastructure teams to manage the situation and securely restore services.”
Operators say one truck will resume and some trains can run in both directions until full repairs are complete.
Water is distributed to passengers on the train on the ship, and the station is very busy.
