STOCKHOLM – Finland won Canada 2-1 in a penalty shootout to hand over his favorite favorite of the title at the World Ice Hockey Championship on Monday.
Patrik Puistola and Eeli Tolvanen changed penalty shots in the shootout, while Kent Johnson changed Canada’s Kent Johnson.
Canada overtook Finland 38-22 in the most difficult test for Canadians in the tournament. Canada scored 28 goals in two games and recognized two games.
Canada ranks second in Group A, while Sweden’s leader is two points. The two will meet at their final group game on Tuesday. They have already competed in the quarterfinals.
Finland is third and plays Slovakia on Tuesday.
Ryan O’Reilly defeated the deadlock with a quick, short-handed goal, at 2:03 left in the midterm, as Canada had to apply the world’s most physical game.
Puistra flew through the air using a stick to win the net from nearby, then tied 7:01 to the final period.
In Herring, Denmark, he kept Germany out 5-0, remaining undefeated in the Czech Republic defending champions.
The sixth victory brought the Czechs to the top of Group B. This was one point ahead of Switzerland, three points ahead of third place.
The Czechs will complete a group stage against the Americans on Tuesday.
Germany and Denmark will also meet on Tuesday to determine the group’s fourth team to reach the quarterfinals.
Czech Jakub Fulk scored twice, while David Pastornak lived a single timer from the left circle and set up Lukas Sedrak in the mid-term. Jakub Lauko added a short hand goal.
Daniel Vladder kept the Germans out with 19 saves.
In Stockholm, rookie Slovenia defeated France 3-1, avoiding demobilization at the expense of France.
In Herring, Norway defeated Hungary 1-0 to avoid demobilization.
