Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ press conference was a momentary derailment on Tuesday… after the senator fainted while giving a speech on stage.
Sen. Ileana Garcia, a Republican who represents Florida’s 36 districts, was on the podium in front of a crowd giving her address on environmental law when things went in the wrong direction.
Check out the video where Garcia suddenly turns suddenly to DeSantis, the off-screen screen, and shows the governor that he needs to sit down if he’s feeling unwell.
Suddenly, Garcia’s eyes are closed and her body tilts to one side, but before she crashes into the floor, the state surgeon general Joseph Radapop catches her and places her in a chair.
People at the event jump out of their seats, surround Garcia, water her and comfort her. But it’s not clear what’s wrong with her.
After about a minute, Garcia wins her second wind, and gets back to the podium, joking a bit… “Are you kidding? This was my moment.” After that, she hones her speech.
As for Desantis, he didn’t see him in the video until the very end…and he smiles and appears to be impressed with Garcia’s resilience. After all, the government served in the US Navy and was deployed to Iraq during the war in 2007.
Garcia is a real trooper!
