The former Illinois State Police Chief may want to review Miranda’s rights… ‘Because he did not exercise his right to remain silent.
Walter Krimek – a former police chief in Bridgeview, a Chicago suburb of the city of Bridgeview, was arrested in December on the afternoon of the nearby judicial town… and footage from the road shows the moment leading up to the police officer slapping his cuffs.
Check out the clip… It starts with Klimek refusing to get out of the car – screaming “Let Me Go” repeatedly while in the park – officers gather around the car.
One officer says Klimek was on a wreck of a rather bad car – it looks like airbags are deployed throughout the vehicle – and they tell him to get out of the car…but Walter is just heading forward so that he is ready to continue driving.
Eventually, the officers have to climb from behind to unleash his seat belt, and they begin to drag him out… leading Klimek to scream in pure pain. It’s unclear whether he’s in actual pain or simply throwing a tantrum, but either way, the officer isn’t happy.
With traffic backed up on the road, Klimek is loaded onto a stretcher – where he apologises to the police through heavy sobs – before he is transported to the station.
Once there, Walter said his car was being towed – he eagerly denied, but officers say they called the tow truck himself, but he was arrested for DUI.
Klimek was also shocked by his arrest… despite his obvious obscure speech and confusion, he claims he is not drunk. The officer responds that it is uncontroversial – because ‘Klimek was already indicted.
Klimek was charged with a misdemeanor of arrest and resisting DUI. He was taken to hospital, but he refused to draw blood that would have been used to determine his blood alcohol concentration.
Chicago Station WGN-TV reports that Klimek was speeding when he hit a guardrail, lost control, hit another car, and injured another person.
He became the chief of Bridgeview Police in 2013, according to Klimek’s LinkedIn. It is unknown that he has left the role.
We contacted Klimek and the court… so far, there are no words.
