The “Big George Foreman” biopic director reflects the death of a legendary boxer…important for the black community

George Foreman’s death is still felt in the boxing world… and now the filmmakers behind “Big George Foreman” are open to the influence of late heavyweight champions, especially among the black community.
TMZ Sports recently spoke with George Tillman Jr. George Tillman Jr. co-written the film, which was released in mid-2023, as well as the director. This is a movie that most fans loved.
Tillman Jr. and Foreman got to know each other well…and with Big George’s death, we asked about the legacy that the larger than life had left behind.
“You see the economic level where we come from. All the obstacles in front of us. George has dropped out. [of school] Very early on, I joined the Peace Corps. All of those things, he belongs to us. He is where we come from in that we are African Americans. Explained, “And we’re trying to overcome all those obstacles, the ideas of resilience.
Gt Jr. also talked about meeting Foreman for the first time.
“I was surprised at how big he was. How strong,” said Tillman Jr.
But the physically imposing people were sweet and caring, just as he was.
“That was my first experience, but I say how kind he is. He invited me to Houston.
As the film Tillman Jr. explained, Foreman dealt with the issue of anger as a young man…but that changed when he found God.
“[Anger’s] It was something he dealt with throughout his life, and that changed when he became such a pastor. Just being around him I saw you can change. You can become a better person. ”
Foreman passed away on March 21st at the age of 76.
