The top editor of Tri-City Herald has recently been recognized nationally for his 41-year career in journalism. Executive Editor Laurie Williams has been named to Editor & Publisher Magazine’s Masters of the Media 2025 list.
She graduated from university in 1984 as a City Beat Reporter and rose to the top spot in the newsroom. Kennewick’s women were nominated for leadership skills, publication to journalism and excellence, and ability to lead in challenging times.

Asked to look back at her career so far and what brings her greatest sense of accomplishment, Williams said she’s informing readers who didn’t know about other ways, especially when she was officially accountable or revealed injustice.
