The hotel and music venue in Ibiza have cancelled upcoming events after two British men died on the premises in separate incidents.
The 19-year-old man named Gary Kelly died in a fall Monday in Ibiza Rocks.
The venue said the incident was “deeply shocked and devastated” and decided to suspend the planned event programme “due to the seriousness of the situation and respect for those involved.”
Spanish civil security told the BBC that Mr Kelly died early Monday after falling from the balcony, saying his death was a coincidence.
Ibiza Rocks said it is working with relevant authorities.
“Guest safety and welfare are our number one priority.
A foreign ministry spokesperson said Monday: “We are supporting British families who have passed away in Spain and are in contact with local authorities.”
Mr. Kelly played ice hockey for the Scotland team Dundee Star.
In honor, the club said: “Everyone at the club, including players, staff, management and ownership, is heartbroken to hear this tragic news.”
They continued: “His losses will affect the ice hockey community and many more people from the future. He will sadly miss out.”
Kelly’s death comes two weeks after Aberdeen native Thomson passed away at the venue on July 7th.
His mother said in a social media tribute he was on vacation with friends.
“Early this week, my son, Evan, sadly died after a tragic accident while on vacation with a friend in Ibiza,” she added, writing, “We are all absolutely broken.”
The Ibiza Rocks event calendar showed that the R&B Music Dance Party is scheduled for Sunday.
It says it will not specify the number of events being cancelled, but will contact the affected customers via email.
The San Antonio venue, located west of the island, is known for providing hotel accommodations along with music venues on-site and daytime pool parties.
This year marks its 20th anniversary and is known for hosting artist residencies, including frequent residencies from Craig David. The venue had planned a number of big names for the headlines of the milestone celebrations.
This week’s schedule features a appearance from rapper Dizzy Rascal, and was expected to be an introductory appearance on July 30th.
