England winger Immanuel Feyi-Waboso may be suitable for summer international tours, says Rugby Rob Baxter’s director of Exeter.
The 22-year-old has not played this year after a shoulder dislocation in late December. Surgery continued to delay as England and Exeter discussed treatment.
Baxter, who tried out each of England’s three tour matches in Japan and New Zealand last summer, says Faye Waboso is “touch and go” to play the Chiefs’ final match of the season against the May 31 sale.
That means he’s likely to fit perfectly, but if either the British and Irish Lions or the UK chose to call for a summer tour, he would have had little time for the game.
The Lions go to Australia and England travel to Argentina for three Test tours.
“Manny is in a near-lucky position and he is in a very little conflict-free situation,” Baxter said.
“He might come back, get up and run, be healthy and fresh, and if he’s fully operational and ready, England might want to join the tour.
“I helped coach on the tour of England many times before Moon, but players left us every five minutes to join us in the lion.
“But at the same time, if he had a summer and he had a full preseason for us, he would benefit from it as well.
“He’s one of those people who are in a lucky position that he’s probably fine no matter what happens.”
