Aviation and Aviation Development Minister Festus Khiamo revealed this in Abuja on Wednesday when he received a delegation led by the Home Minister of Orbunmi Tonji Ojo.
Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, says the federal government will launch E-VISA systems and digital landing/exit cards to enhance national security.
He revealed this in Abuja on Wednesday.
According to Keyamo, the e-Visa system allows applicants to submit visa requests online and upload required documents electronically.
He added that manual landing and exit cards will be digitized and that visitors will be required to fill up with information in advance before travelling to Nigeria.
“What we are doing here today reflects this government’s commitment to inter-ministerial cooperation with overlapping duties.
“Today is another example of inter-municipal collaboration. It relates to the implementation of the e-Visa system,” he said.
He said further details will be given by Tunji-Ojo and related agencies such as Immigration, NCAA and FAAN will fully support the initiative.
Keyamo emphasized that there are no objections to the program. This mainly falls under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Meanwhile, the Home Minister said the automation system will be launched on May 1st.

He said the e-Visa application is free and designed to simplify entry into Nigeria while increasing national security.
Tunji-Ojo explained that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) will manage landing and exit cards.
“The NCAA is of course responsible for adjusting and issuing airline regulations,” Tunji-Ojo said.
He revealed that a central visa approval centre already exists at the immigration headquarters, with global criminal history checks integrated with trained officers.
“More background checks will be conducted for travelers entering Nigeria, with the aim of eliminating bottlenecks and ensuring a transparent visa process.
“Our goal is to open Nigeria’s borders without compromising security. Both the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Aviation play an important role in this,” he said.
