A man allegedly attacking Jack Grelish at the end of Sunday’s Manchester Derby at Old Trafford has been arrested and charged.
The Manchester City midfielder was walking towards the athletes’ tunnels when the alleged incident occurred, prompting police to investigate, according to the Daily Mail.
Both Manchester Clubs declined to comment by citing the live investigation when contacted by the PA news agency, but it is understood that United is cooperating with police inquiries.
A statement from Greater Manchester Police on Monday said: “Alfie Holt of Haven Drive, Droisluden, has been charged with assault. He will appear in Manchester Magistrates Court in July.
“The accusations are related to an incident that took place in Old Trafford yesterday.”

Grelish came in the 74th minute of a goalless draw for United as City missed a chance to return to the top four.
His fellow midfielder Phil Foden was the subject of a vulgar crowd hymn about his mother in the first half, causing a strong responsibilities from City boss Pep Guardiola at the end of the contest.
“A hymn to him? There’s no class. But it’s not united, it’s people,” Guardiola said.
“We are very exposed, people currently on the screen in football around the world – managers, owners, football players in particular.
“To be honest, I don’t understand people’s minds.
“It’s a lack of integrity, class – and they should be embarrassed. But that’s what it is, that I would say everywhere, not just in the UK, but everywhere.”
