Juju Watkins’ coach doesn’t seem too worried about her star coming back to her normal self anytime soon – Lindsay Gottlieb tells TMZ Sports, who is attacking things with laser focus, “great” in her rehab, at 19.
Of course, Watkins tore the ACL in an NCAA Tournament match on March 24th… But Gottlieb told us this week at LAX that she has shown plenty of indications that she’s OK.
“She’s doing well,” said the Trojan sideline manager. “She’s fine. She’s in focus mode, rehabilitation mode.”
The injury usually takes about 12 months to recover…and Gottlieb revealed that they are not in a hurry to her.
But as Gottlieb said, early signs appear to indicate that she might be there due to the madness of next March.
Not only will they need to do it mostly without Watkins if the Trojans want to return to the tournament, but star players Kiki Iliafen and Raya Marshall were both selected in Monday’s WNBA draft.
But Gottlieb said she is excited to see her reach their dreams, even if she can’t get them in her courtroom next year.
As for their advice to the duo heading to the pros, Gottlieb kept it simple… “They need to go to training camp and be themselves.”
