Justin Rose admits that he feels “suffered” by his feelings after suffering from a second painful Masters playoff defeat.
Eight years after losing to Sergio Garcia at Augusta National, Rose was beaten by Rory McIlroy, who drilled a hole from a short distance for a birdie after a slight missed Rose attempt.
Rose started his final round seven shot behind McIlroy, but set the clubhouse target on the 18th with a closing 66 birdie for the 10th birdie, leaving McIlroy lost from 5 feet due to the regulation title.

“It’s certainly mixed emotions,” Rose said. Rose also finished second behind Jordan Spieth at the Masters in 2015 and finished second in the Open Championship at Royal Troon last year.
“There’s been a lot of pours coming to me from people who have a lot of positive comments, so I’m trying to absorb that and absorb the week, but at the same time I look at my phone and hope there’s another message out there.
A highlight of the Augusta National Masters final round as Rory McIlroy completed a career grand slam after defeating Justin Rose in the playoffs.
“This time, I was in that situation even more this time, so I really got to feel what it was like to win that.
“I certainly could feel the performance I could put in and the performance I could put in, so I don’t feel the shape, shape, shape, shape, whatever, but I just don’t know what the right word is.

Talk to the press before RBC Heritage – Live on Sky Sports from Thursday – “I’m taking a pretty bad loss, but I heard, I was a stone throw from winning the Open and winning the Masters.
Scotty Schaeffler emphasized that Rory McIlroy and his family had completed the Grand Slam by winning the Masters title and also made it happy to present his green jacket.
“I would have gone to the Grand Slam on the PGA. [Championship in May]. That’s like that close. I have to believe it.
“In the last two majors I was right there, I was beaten by the world’s top players at the peak of their game.
“But in both cases I feel like I’ve stepped up, I hit the shot, I play well, I feel great, I’m doing the right thing to win.
