Katie Taylor claimed that despite her opponent’s claims, she deserved a decision in her second fight with Amanda Serrano.
Taylor and Serrano met at a press conference in New York ahead of their third match at Madison Square Garden on July 12th.
Serrano wore a head guard for their showdown, like a reference to her accusation that Taylor had committed the headbutt crime in the final fight.
Taylor decided on Serrano twice, the latter arguing heavily over the results in his second match.
Amanda Serrano claimed that Katie Taylor deliberately headbutted her in her uncontroversial light welterweight championship fight. Paul vs Tyson is now available for viewing globally on Netflix.
But Taylor said, “She has to respect the decisions. If you see those fights, you can clearly see that I won those two fights. That’s really ridiculous.
“Of course I won. It was an amazing battle. There were two best fights in boxing history. Two fights are very close, but I think the top margin is always very small, but it came out as a natural winner.”
Serrano said: So it’s going to be a great battle between both of us. ”
Katie Taylor says she hopes to put an “exclamation point” at the end of her battle with Amanda Serrano.
Puerto Ricans also criticized Taylor for fighting more than 10 rounds. Serrano wanted to box 12 three rounds, just like men’s boxing.
“We shook it. If we could roll the tape, we shook it. When we went to sign the contract, she didn’t agree,” Serrano said.
“If that’s her choice, then it’s her choice, but I think women should get the perception and equality that men get.”
Taylor is holding an indisputable ultra-light championship. She holds all four major belts, but one of the licensed organizations, WBC, is not aware of the 12-round match of female boxers.
Taylor as champion said the challenger cannot determine the conditions for the fight.
Check out the highlights of Katie Taylor’s epic rematch against Amanda Serrano. Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson is now available for viewing globally on Netflix.
“I’m 2-0 here. I’m in the driver’s seat. It’s only at the end of the day. Amanda needs this fight much more than I do. I have a long history of big fights with big names.
“You know that. At the end of the day, I think it’s the point. [you fighting] The 3-minute round was to prove to people that you get more knockouts. How many knockouts did you get in the 12 three rounds? zero. “
However, Taylor concluded:
“This is another legacy building fight for me and Amanda. I’m 2-0 against Amanda, but I just want to prove myself again.”
