NAIROBI – The High Court ordered that police officers deployed during the demonstrations must always wear uniforms and not hide their faces.
The ruling follows a lawsuit filed by the Kenya Law Association (LSK), where he sued police officers who told him he was behind the death of Rex Masai.
The body had asked the court to stop the police chief from deploying officers in civilian clothing to suppress the protest.
All cases of murder and police brutality allegedly linked to officers who did not have identification or uniforms.
The court was told that the secret appearance would allow officers to merge with peaceful protesters who exercise their rights under Article 37 of the Kenya Constitution.
Furthermore, Hirano Police could not distinguish them from the public as they did not have any form of identification.
