NAIROBI – Kenya has rejected a diplomatic memo accusing Nairobi of exacerbating Sudan’s ongoing conflict by its SAF-led administration and calling the accusations “bassed and incredible.”
In a strongly spoken statement issued Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Issues said it was “concerned” over communications regarding the SAF’s diplomatic mission.”
“While human tolls and infrastructure damage are heartbreaking, the hero continues to pursue narrow profits with full immunity,” the foreign office said referring to the Sudan conflict being dying, millions of people being displaced and millions not being able to access humanitarian aid.
Kenya reaffirmed its status as a peace builder in the region and emphasized its actions within the framework of Intergovernmental Authorities (IGAD) and other mechanisms on development to mediate the crisis.
Unparalleled qualifications
The ministry said Kenyan officials met with leaders of both the Sudanese Army (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The government has also addressed recent claims related to a gathering of Sudan’s opposition in Nairobi. There, political roadmap was adopted by the RSF and other opposition parties.
“The convening of this dialogue forum in our capital, Nairobi or elsewhere on the territory of Kenya is not comparable to supporting the outcome of the forum, and constitutes the formation of a government in exile as claimed,” the foreign office revealed.
With the conflict in Sudan still not resolved, Kenya urged key international stakeholders to support the negotiated settlement.
“Therefore, Kenya urges key players to Sudan’s conflict to find a way to a peaceful solution and end blood blood.”
“It is true that the international community has an obligation under the UN Charter to protect human life and property and help silence guns,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs argued.
