Nairobikenya – President William Root reorganizes his cabinet and moves Environmental Adenduare to the Ministry of Health, where he replaces Deborah Balasa.
Balasa has been transferred from Duare to take over environmental, climate change and forestry in the changes announced Wednesday.
“The President congratulated the candidates and conveyed his best wishes to receive the Congressional approval process necessary to meet the legal requirements under the Constitution,” said Felix Coscay, Chief of Staff and Public Servant.
He said the reshuffle aims to strengthen service delivery under the bottom-up economic transformation agenda (beta).
Duare takes on the pressing challenges facing the Social Health Agency (SHA), which is being blamed for disruption in health care services across the country.
In the change, Ruto appointed the widow of Senator William Cheptumo of Hannah to a new position in the Department of Gender.
Cheptumo passed away last month while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital.
President William Ruto also rejected Public Services Chief Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi in June 2023 following the fallout over the abduction of his son by the National Intelligence Agency (NIS).
The President appointed Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku to take over public services, human capital development and special programme dockets.
Ruku’s appointment is subject to parliamentary approval.
