The prosecution is expected to present facts in the case, including Kenya, who pleaded guilty to charges of illegal possession and trade of two Belgians, Vietnamese citizens and the living Queen Ali.
Yesterday, prosecutors informed Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Court that two Belgians had been arrested in Naivasha after it was found to be in possession of around 5,000 living queen ants.
The insects were stored in 2,244 tubes and had an estimated roadside value of 1 million shillings.
The Belgian was charged with dealing with wildlife species without permission in violation of the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act.
In another related case, the Kenyan, whose Vietnamese citizens and Kenyans were identified as Dennis Ngan-a, was charged with illegal possession and trade of around 400 living queen ants, rated at 200,000 shillings.
The crime is reported to have occurred between April 5th and 6th in Nairobi’s Central Business District and Syokimau.
