NAIROBI – The National Transportation Agency (NTSA) has officially resumed issuing car number plates after a nationwide shortage that had been persisting for several months.
Confirming the development, NTSA Chairman, Chairman Khatib Mwashetani, said the authorities have begun receiving delivery of number plates and distribution to applicants is ongoing.
During a visit to inspect the newly delivered plates, Mwashetani noted that efforts were in place to ensure efficient processing and issuance.
“Clients who received text messages collecting the plates they applied were encouraged to pick them up at their chosen office,” the NTSA said.
NTSA Director George Nyao reassured both the car dealership and the public that supply chain issues that caused the delays were fully addressed.
Resuming license plate issuance will be a relief for many vehicle owners and dealers across the country who have faced registration and operational delays due to plate availability.
