NAIROBI – President William Root’s promise to buy chapati manufacturing machines for Nairobi students and the city’s subsidized school lunch initiative have sparked widespread ridiculous online ridiculous and criticism that critics call it non-scope.

During a development tour in Nairobi, Route made a pledge at St. Teresa Girls’ Secondary School in Masale after Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja requested assistance in purchasing the machine.

The machine will be used to create a Chapati that the county will be introducing in its Dishi Na County School Feeding Program.

“Over 300,000 children benefit from the program. That means they need a machine that can produce 1 million chapatis every day. I asked the president,” Sakaja said.

In response, Ruto told the excited student, “I agreed to buy a chapati manufacturing machine. Governor, your job is to find a place to buy it now.”

However, many Kenyans have dismissed the pledge as an unnecessary initiative that cannot address the pressing country’s problems.

Critics accused Root of mispricing and exaggerating minor projects as a major achievement.

Social media users compared Kenya’s leadership priorities with global advances and laughed at the announcement.

Others expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s focus, and some Kenyans even dubbed Ruto “El Chapo.”

Some people questioned the feasibility of the project and raised logistical concerns about how machines can efficiently generate such large quantities of chapati.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) spiraled conversations into meme contests, where social media users competed against each other by creating memes about Chapati issues.

“El Chapo”

Videos and images showing an exaggerated version of how millions of chapatis are flooding Kenya social media as they are violating Sakaja for failing to prioritize solutions to the city’s flood crisis, considering the rain is occurring.

“It’s rainy season and instead of working on drainage systems, they’re talking about chapatis. Black people with black hearts,” wrote @_james041.

Another user, Franco Tober, said, “Kenyans, peanut-sized brains, love excitement and drama, and politicians use this to deflect people’s focus. What’s stolen while being fascinated about chapatis?”

User @tongileim said, “I’m showing my mom all those chapati memes.

Despite growing criticism from the public and religious leaders, President Root continues to make grand pledges despite urging him to focus on implementation rather than making promises.
