Kevin Thelwell, football director, as understood by Sky Sports News, will be joining the Rangers.
GERS CEO Patrick Stewart has been looking for a new sports director since February and is set to move to the 51-year-old who moved from the New York Red Bulls to the Merseyside Club in 2022.
Thelwell – who also worked in Wolves, Derby County and Preston North End – confirmed that they would leave Toffee at the end of their contract amid many structural changes at the club in March.
During his three years in Premier League outfit, Thelwell oversaw difficult periods, including PSR rules, point deductions, fight against relegation, and administrative changes.
However, he has seen the club earn a transfer fee of £226 million, spending just £145 million on six transfer windows. For context, nine Premier League teams spent more than £100 million in windows alone last summer.

Despite the struggle and circumstances leading to a lack of field and spending, he will set off with Everton under David Moet and enter the new stadium next season.
Thelwell is understood to have recently visited the club facility in Glasgow and recently met a senior Ibrox figure.
Rangers will be locked into a contract between healthworld Andrew Cabana and the 49ers company to gain control at Ibrox and will be handed over to US investors.

Why does Rangers appoint a sports director?
CEO Stewart commissioned a “Route and Branch Review for the Whole Football Division” in January, aiming to bring success to the club.
The Ibrox Chief has identified an appointment as a sports director from an external review and confirmed that he has been working on the search ever since.

The Rangers have won only one league title in 14 seasons and have fired three managers since 2022. Stewart said the appointment was “responsible for the entire club’s football operations.”
He added that the appointment is “an experienced football person responsible for all aspects of the football club and we assure them that they are working together to achieve our overall participation plan.”
The Rangers have been operating without a sports director since Roth Wilson set out for Nottingham Forest in April 2023.
