Watch: The moment when the king gives a speech in Italian
King Charles warned of the need to stand together as democracies such as Britain and Italy stood together in such a troubled international era, becoming the first British monarch to deal with both homes in the Italian parliament.
The king gave a speech on the third day of his visit to Italy, and he received years of assistance from Roman Parliament.
The visit also coincided with the 20th anniversary of the king and queen’s wedding.
Queen Camilla, who attended the Parliament with the King, was wearing the same clothes she wore on her wedding day in 2005.
The ivory silk dress was “reused” to be worn again for this anniversary and a visit to Italian parliament.
Earlier in the day, the Queen had been given a Margherita pizza to visit a Roman school to celebrate her wedding anniversary.
In their aging room at the Palace of Montecitrio, the king’s speech to Italian lawmakers was the need to gather to protect shared values and strengthen the British-Italian military partnership.
“We are both European countries,” he said.
He welcomed Britain and Italy “standing by Ukraine at the time she needed,” but warned that the image of war is now echoing across the continent, and that young people are seeing images of destruction on “smartphones and tablets.”
“Peace is never a given,” the king said.

Offering some of his speeches in Italian, he shared a long history and culture between Britain and Italy, returning to the ancient Romans who arrived at the British “Windsweep Shores.”
Some of the cultures that returned were musicians such as Ed Sheeran, who performs in Italy.
The king told Parliament that he would like to strengthen his link to Italy, the “country of importance to my heart.”
As the head of the Commonwealth, he also spoke about the role of the Canadian military in helping to liberate Italy in World War II.
The speech worked well with the framed parliamentary members – at one point the applause began to speak to him for a long time, with Italian officials thanking him.
The king began the day by meeting Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, receiving a ceremonial red carpet at Villa Doria Pamphili, on the outskirts of Rome.
As the King and Meloni roamed the gardens of the 17th century palace, they appeared to have an animated conversation with politicians and fluent English speakers.

The King and Queen received a warm welcome on their trip to Italy, taking photos on Tuesday when they met a crowd outside the Colosseum near the ancient site of the Temple on Venus.
There was an appeal for “Carlo” – Italian for Charles – from a crowd that also seemed to be interested in the car. Claret State Bentley.
Returning to Buckingham Palace, there was a musical homage to mark the wedding anniversary of the royal couple.
