Kurt Cobain destroyed this white fender Stratocaster in 1992…and now it’s destroying the record – somehow bringing the money at auction!
Dylan Kosinski – the president of popular music auction site Gottahaverockandroll – tells TMZ that Kurt’s Smashed Guitar was sold to Texas Collectors for $101,500 when the auction closed yesterday.
Music memorabilia sparked a war of bidding on the site… A total of 11 bids were placed before five people were finally crowned.
The minimum bid was $30k. So the guitars brought far more money than originally thought.
As we said… this guitar was destroyed on a tour of Nirvana in 92 in Europe, but was restored in work order while the group was still working on the tour.
The guitar was obtained by a crew who worked in Nirvana from 1991 to 1993… and was later certified by Big John Duncan, a well-known guitar technique known for its relationship with the band.
This isn’t the most ever, but it’s one of his shafts that he used in “smells like teen spirits” that he sold for $4.5 million.
$100,000 is not peanuts… it certainly puts the seller in the “green spirit.”
