Larry Tambourine Dead 82…Brother of actor Russ, founding member of Standel

Larry Tamblyn, a founding member of the influential band The Standells and brothers Russ Tamblyn, has passed away, according to a social media post by a family member.
Dennis Tamblyn – Larry’s ne- announced the sad news in a Facebook post… telling fans that his uncle passed away on Saturday and remembers his “incredible life.”
Tambrine specifically mentioned the memory of his uncle who was with him in Arizona a few years ago… adding his uncle, still making music in his later years. He provided no cause of death.
As we said… Larry was a founding member of the Standels. A rock band from the 1960s, they performed what some described as an early version of punk music. The group is said to have inspired legendary groups like Sex Pistols and the Ramones.
The band’s biggest hit, “Dirty Water,” peaked at No. 11 on the US charts in 1965… and has been endured for over the past 50 years thanks to the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins playing tracks after the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins won their home game.
The band has released five studio albums over the years… The latest The The The The, entitled “Bump,” was released in 2013.
Larry was Russ Tamburi’s younger brother… an Academy Award nominee and star for the 1961 film West Side Story. Larry was also the uncle of “Travels Sisters” and “Joanne of Ark” actress Amber Tamburi.
Larry was 82 years old.
