MONTROVIA – A large donation from the Ministry of Agriculture has greatly boosted the mission of empowering rural youth. This support is based on the foundation’s newly launched initiative, “Harvest for Hope: Education in Cultivation Agriculture.”
The ministry’s donations include essential agricultural supplies such as six wheel sticks, 12 shovels, 15 cutlass and five bags of fertilizer. These tools are expected to enhance the foundation’s agricultural capabilities and can generate food and income to support educational programs across rural communities.
E. Reagan GT Barcon II, Executive Director of the Foundation, has extended his sincere appreciation to the Minister of Agriculture. Alexander J. Nueta. He praised the Minister’s dedication to both agriculture progress and education equity, noting that this cooperation is an important step to improving the lives of countless children.
“This partnership is a crucial step to changing the lives of many children and promoting a brighter future,” says Barcon.
In addition to the equipment, the ministry also offers fresh produce. The foundation is hoping to receive delivery next week. This includes eggplant, cabbage, pepper and collard greens in a variety of quantities. These foods are used to nourish children supported by the foundation and to enhance self-sufficiency models.
The initiative reflects its focus on integrating agriculture with education and education as a means of building sustainable, community-driven development in Liberia. It not only deals with food insecurity, but also helps children stay at school by reducing the financial burden on families.
The foundation’s efforts have gained support from a variety of international partners, including the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the US Embassy in Monrovia, the US Department of Agriculture, the British Embassy in Liberia, and USAID. Together, they contribute to a shared vision of improving livelihoods and educational access in the underprivileged communities of Liberia.
