MONTROVIA – Angeline Mammy Warro Coon, wife of Majority Block Chair Richard N. Coon, has filed a lawsuit in the Commercial Court to seek appropriate accounting for the income generated from the joint property.
Mrs. Coon alleges that her husband, who manages the property, was unable to provide her with details on the proceeds from her rental income over a decade.
Mrs. Koon and the majority Bloc Chairman Koon have been married for 25 years since 2000 and jointly acquired the property in March 2004 at the Unity Conference Center Community, Hotel Africa Road, Virginia, Montserrado County, Liberia.
The property was registered in April 2004, with both names listed in the archive.
The couple developed the property in 2005, building five duplexes each with two apartments and a total of 10 apartments. In 2007, they agreed to rent a unit to generate income for their families.
However, Mrs. Coon’s lawsuit states that despite her own control of the property, Chairman Coon has not provided any information regarding rental proceeds.
The lawsuit states that Mr. Coon had initially provided an income estimate of $5,110.00 in the first year of rental (2007), but Mrs. Coon has not been given an update on the income generated since. She argued that the speaker could not explain the rent revenue, and despite joint ownership, he made decisions about the tenant, collected rent, and managed the apartment without her knowledge or involvement.
Mrs. Kuhn claims that her efforts to obtain information about her property income are fulfilled with resistance, and even claims that Mr. Kuhn has directed the tenants not to engage with her regarding rental matters.
She argues that the issue is a source of ongoing conflict, and a source of ongoing conflict with intense debate in 2015 when Kuhn ordered tenants to go to their apartment and ask for receipts. She says she has since been excluded from her involvement in the management of her property.
In her petition, Mrs. Coon asks the court to force her to provide her with an appropriate accounting of rental income, giving her 50% stake that she is entitled to as the co-owner of the property.
