WASHINGTON, DC – A new corps of officers have been led to lead the operations of the Liberian Community Association in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. The new executive, led by President Sebastian Techler, took office in Hyattsville, Maryland over the weekend.
The opportunity to bring together hundreds of Liberians and wealthy people from all over the United States has provided a new distribution of leadership to govern for the next two years.
Those who will be appointed will include President Joseph Lewis, Sebastian Techler, Vice President: Winnitta Kessler and Executive Director. Monica Two, accounting. Treasury Secretary Alexander Dossen. Prophet James Corgo, pastor. Sangai Kamala and George Bray also led George Bray, who serves as a member of the board of the Liberian Association of America (ULAA). The new team of police officers was appointed by the Rev. Emmett L. Dunn, executive director of the Lot Carry Baptist foreign missions, who accused the executives of performing their duties with dedication to the interests of selected people. The new executives will work together to lead with the board led by Esther Richards Chairman Felix Wilson.
On this occasion, Dr. John T. Uru, senior manager of Statistical Data Governance at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, called on Liberians to mobilize their resources for advances in education in Liberia.
He said, “Let’s come to the consensus that, in order to achieve Liberia’s potential as a progressive and prosperous country, we must prioritize transforming the education system in Liberia through a sustainable and professional growth lens.” He observed that the Liberian education system faces many challenges, including an outdated curriculum, lack of infrastructure, an untrained educational workforce, limited access to quality learning materials, and systematic inefficiency. These challenges were “immortalized by the catastrophic effects of the civil war, Ebola, COVID-19 and subsequent economic set-off,” he said. He called on officials, organizational leaders, teachers, parents and students of the Liberian government to help create a future that is a beacon of hope, opportunity and prosperity.
